So I finally get the Equinox 800. I charge it, throw it into Park2, and head for the door.

I decide to take it up the block to Clad City (a.k.a. my kids' elementary school). My wife tells me "No, don't do that. Go somewhere better. Someplace you can actually find something good."

Never one to listen to my wife, I head to Clad City anyway. I know the school was only built in 1970, but it'll be good and educational to learn the different tones.

10 minutes in, I realize the pinpoint function BLOWS AWAY the pinpoint function on my old AT PRO (sorry buddy). I mean by a LOT!

30 minutes in, I realize this thing is sniffing out good targets like crazy. The separation is unbelievable. Everything I dig is a coin, and I'm not exactly cherry-picking.

45 minutes in, I get a DEEEEEP squeaky tone, 31-32, maybe just over a quarter. It's still solid though, as far as targets go. Solid but faint and singing so beautifully I start wondering if maybe my AT PRO will require some sort of memorial service after I'm done.

I dig down 8", 10", 12"... Then this happened:

I was literally in shock! I've hit this schoolyard 20-30 times. I've gone over this spot 3x that many times with my AT PRO. I've vacuumed it clean. Or so I thought.

Fifteen feet away guess what? SILVER DIME. The first time I've ever pulled silver out of this spot too. Damn.

Anyway, I hunted 90 minutes and I ended up with this:

So yeah, I'm a believer. I almost don't even want to tell everyone how good it is (because the less of these out there the better!) but you're my treasure buds, and you need to know.

I'm sold after a single hunt. The NOX definitely lives up to the hype.

Wow. Plucked some nice suprises outta there! Good pickin'!

Great saves! I've heard nothing but excellent reviews about those Equinoxes...Congrats on a great break-in...Ddf.

Now we're metal detecting. Congrats :icon_thumright:

Congratualtions on the old copper recovery! :occasion14:

Sure sounds like have that 800 tuned up just right!

My first hunt was just like that. Isn't it amazing how accurate the Target ID is on the Deeper Targets!! The most noticeable feature for me has been the Recovery Speed. I usually leave it around 4 but when it gets trashy I moved it up to 5 or 6 and I am very glad I got the 800 for the extra range as I'm not too sure I would have been satisfied with the lower range on the 600 which I almost talked myself into getting to save on cash.

I can feel your excitement of sweet Finds in an area you've already hit hard! Keep it up! Cheers :-D

Hi, wow great hunt with some nice finds. Congrats on the old coin:icon_thumright:

I've only been out with my Nox 800 a few times and I'm impressed on how it will definitely sniff out coins among all the junk!!! Congrats on all your finds!!! Thanks for sharing... :icon_thumright: "D"

Congrats on those 2 nice coins. My 800 just showed up, but I haven't had the opportunity to get out with it yet. Probably this upcoming weekend I'll give it a test run.

I got the nox after running a v3i for years. I went over most of the places ive had the v3i and realized just how good the v3i is because I didn't find anything else in the areas that I hit hard with the whites. I definatly like the nox though. It runs more quietly in high trash and high emi areas and I love that its waterproof. Ive dug some nice and seriously deep stuff with both machines and wouldn't give either up for anything.

Very rewarding hunt for just 90 min. Congrats on the nice coins.

Recovery of 3 on the 600 is the same as recovery of 6 on the 800. Yep, you should have saved some money and got the 600

The equinox is deeper and faster than an AT Pro and much better on low conducters and in saltwater. If it was a little lighter and had a 9” coil option then I would be selling my Deus too

Sigh... ok, so you've answered several of my specific questions, but one remains... after buying the AT Pro last year, how do I convince my wife I need the NOX? :tongue3:

Congrats to you on the new machine and the great hunt! :occasion14:

Excellent finds! Just curious though, how deep were the "good" finds...on average?

Just a small hint. Before you try to convince her. Make a stronger effort to understand what your current machine is telling you. Then, even if you trade for another, you'll have a much better base to work off.

A new machine is no guarantee of success but becoming very, very good with the one in your hand ....does.
