Got out this morning before the rain to try my 250 out. Hit my local tot lot . I will have to say it is an upgrade from my previous toy although with the headphones that came with it I was left with one heck of a headache. I like the built in pinpointer ... that helped ..

13 pulltabs
6 bottle caps
1962 dime - (at about 8 inches, full spade length)
9 pennies
1 nickel
3 dimes
1 canada dime
2 quarters
1 bullet
2 pieces of wire
1 button
1 soccer cleat

Does a 1962 dime qualify as first silver coin ?

The machine left me with a migraine but after throwing up ... I feel alot better ... If it does it again, that would be rather crappy.

Definately more accurate then my previous machine. Can't wait to get back into the woods. Was good to get out.

Thanks for the coin lesson Ivan , much appreciated.

I was able to locate some headphones with volume control in closet . Kinda big and bulky but I'm gonna give them a whirl next time out.

Every gold ring I have tested on the machine comes up as nickel or in that area. Does this take place with most gold finds with the 250 or is it the rings I'm testing with ?

The depth and accuracy seemed right on . I only dug the one 8+ inch signal and got the keeper dime and it was as it said a good 8 inches down but 2 inch was 2 inch and 4 inch was 4 inch. It was on as far as that was concerned. I kinda shy away from the deep deep signals in tot lots only cause I don't like to stay in one area very long for fear people will think I'm digging a ditch or something.

I was approached by a young boy maybe 10 yrs old who asked if I was a pirate ... I'd have to say he was a homeschooled kid just borrowing the playground like me as he was far to innocent to be public schooled . I showed him and his grandmother the machine and we located a coin or 2 together. Was awkward .... but I think I set a good example. Or atleast I tried.

yes --larger type gold rings will tend to be around the nickle zone --with small / thin items ( like a thin gold "kiddie" ring I found ) coming in under foil area --- try not running too high with the sen level -- about 4 to 5 bars seems to work best for me --- running full blast often does not give the best preformance --- much like blasting the stero full blast doesn't give the "best" sound --- trying to over push the amount of signal into the ground in an attempt to get MAX DEPTH can cause a bit of "feed" back if the ground can't accept it thus making your machine unstable -- in high mineral areas / salt beach areas the ground often can't accept that much signal --and so your machine "sees" metal everywhere ( bing --bing--bing)---if that occurs ---back off on the sen level bitmby bit slowly till it "smooths" out

I found an 18k ring that rang up as a penny, a 14k ring & a 14k earring that rang up as a nickel.
