It has been several years since I took out the metal detector so I figured, with the decent weather, now would be a good time. My step-father and I loaded up and went to explore an old school that opened in 1895 and has been closed for about 40 years now. After about 30 minutes of digging pull tabs and scrap I found this unusual silver ring.

...after a little cleaning and repair.

As I bent down for the last dig of the day I found this guy sunning on the steps of the school. Yup, December 31st and the rattle snakes are out. Be careful.

Welcome to TNet.......and an awesome find. Not the snake, although it was good that you found him before he found you!! It sure paid not to get discouraged to quickly or easily after all those pull tabs............:icon_thumleft:

Cool ring, but I doubt it is very old due to it's style. Looks like it may have slid off somebodies hand when they were reaching and searching in their pocket for a pot or crack pipe. Looks like a party drop to me.

Yeah, I really have no idea of the age of the ring. All I know about it is that it's marked sterling and looks a "V" formation made of feathers.

glad you found the buzzworm in the "winter" in Texas.

BTW, nice ring, too!

I really like the ring!! Congrats!!

Nice ring find and adverting a bad time with Mr. Snake. :occasion14:
