I had a few hours to kill and went on my first real hunt today. Tired of practicing in my yard.
After reading other post I decided to go to some school play grounds with wood chip play areas. After about two hours I wound up with 20 coins mostly pennies a pocket knife and an old quarter could not read date. Not bad for my first time out. I need some advice on best way to clean coins. Soaking In mild soap water right now.
Not a great day but I'm hooked.

good start! is the old quarter a standing liberty? a lot of them you find, you can't read the date.

Silver doesnt need to be cleaned it stays pretty good in the soil...clad on the other hand doesnt fair very well...tumble clean clad coins
