First Seated & 120 yr old commemorative token/coin
Went out today to two different locations. The first location yielded 5 wheaties, my hunting buddy D-dub got the goodies out of this location today.
On our way home, I told him of an area I was at in April, but was flooded....Old well, sidewalk and parts of an old foundation. He said he's cool at stopping by and checking it out. About 15 minutes into the hunt, I got a 12-45 signal on my E-Trac at 8 inches. I knew for sure it was a dime, but thought it was going to be a Barber. When I pulled it out of the hole, I thought to myself, "Man this Barber looks funny" Well, to my surprise it wasn't a Barber, but rather this beautiful 1888 Seated dime. My first seated. This was my main goal for this year (any seated coin).
Second target was coming in at half dollar, and my heart was pumping thinking Barber Half. Well, to my surprise again, it wasn't a Barber half but this 1789-1889 Chicago Commemorative Token/Coin. This is the first of its kind I have ever seen, so if anyone would have any info on it, it would be greatly appreciated.
Third target was the '45 Merc in great shape. Also found a bunch of wheaties as well.
Looks like I'll be heading back to hunt this site soon, as we only had about an hour to hunt it. Definately an oldie! Thanks for looking and HH!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, my screen name used to be Lookn4seated, and now it's ?, because I don't know what to change it to next....Maybe Lookn4LargeC!
