I hit the beach this morning at 630 am. It was 46 degrees out but I wanted to see if I could find a phone that I have been trying to get. My scoop is to small to grab it so I am in the market for a new scoop and looking at the stealth 920I to use with my Excal II. Any suggestions? I know that the target is a phone because of the ear plugs that I broke off thinking it was a surfers ankle strap. The water kept coming in and filling up my digs and pounding me. I am going back at low tide tonight and try to get it.

Mean while, I poked around a little in the dry sand and came up with this find. i don't see a stamp on the inside so I wonder if it is real?

my experience is no hall mark no gold. but wow if its real! best of luck

I find 1 or 2 gold rings every year with no marks...get it checked.

If someone had it sized, sometimes, the markings can be cut out when sizing. Most (good) jewelers, try not to cut it out, though.
The stone almost looks pale blue, in the pic...... the setting looks substantial, but,
they make some real nice fakes, nowadays, too. Get it checked. (and don't trust the 1st person checking it, unless you know them, get a 2nd opinion.)

Agreed. I've found a number of gold rings w/o markings. If it's real you just scored an Iphone 6 *new*

Always nice to find a ring junk or not wtg. Yours looks like the stone is broken, am I right? Hard to tell from a pic. I think it's junk though, best to get it tested

No the ring is not broken. The stone is good. It is well made if it is junk.

Congrats on a cool ring! I hope it's real.
In the water you may want to try the Stealth 720i as it has a lip on the top edge and is a little deeper in the basket. Also the carbon fiber handle is highly recommended. Out of several scoops I've tried, the Stealth scoop never developed rust spots near the weld points for the supports.
Best of Luck out there!

That's a pretty one; hope it checks out to be the real thing

Try kicking a little sand out brfore you dig. I hunt OC MD and the sand is so fluid sometimes that before you can get the scoop back to dig it is filled, I just remove enough to where it won't cave in and give me a few inch's head start. And Nice ring, looks like it could be a goodie...

I've found no less than 50 unmarked gold rings - most are close to 100 yrs old
...so have a jeweler look at it

A few things anyone hunting the beach needed..... loop, acid, diamond tester. Get it all for around $100 and take the guess work out. Step 1....take a pocket knife and scratch it....if its hard to scratch its likely SS.... Step 2 take it to a jeweler anyway.

Well as a sad follow-up I must say that all though its a pretty ring and "Yes I was excited" it turns out that it is not real. Nevertheless, it was awesome to find and it sure got my adrenaline flowing. There is nothing like a ring in the scoop, nothing well except for maybe a chain or maybe a reales or daubloom which I am currently looking for LOL.

It sure looked good with its shiny appearance. Must not have been lost long!

Still a great find, real or not IMO!

I'm happy no matter what. If you don't look for it you won't find it!!
