My wife and I just started detecting this year and spent the last couple days on some family property that has been affected by significant hurricanes the past hundred years or so. We do not have as much access to historical sites as many of you in the colonial/civil war areas but we are thankful our ground is not frozen here in Florida, yet.
Here is an overall pic of some of the notable finds.
We found a grease cap for what I believe is a Model T/A ford (1917-1927).
We also found a couple coins - a 1903 Barber Dime and a 1905 V nickel.
We found a train button that looks to be an early 1900 button for an engineer uniform possibly?
We found a campaign button for Teddy Roosevelt that looks a little creepy but I believe it worked to get him in office.
We found both of these in the same hole but have no idea their purpose. Any ideas? Possibly earrings?
And finally a small butterfly brooch that is of the 'plique a jour' persuasion. The jewelry is partially silver and stamped 800.
Thanks for checking out our finds. Any feedback on these items would be helpful.
Happy Hunting,
Jason
