Hi all, been hanging out here for a while, never thought I'd ever find something like this to post. Mostly satisfied with the exercise I get looking for clads and occasional rings in baseball parks, I read an article about research and decided to try it. Found out an old 1 by 2 block open lot in my town used to be a park founded in 1890 nothing else was ever built there. Arrived and found the grass/weeds to be fairly high already, (it's been a wet spring here), only one portion was low enough to detect and I got a signal on the Garrett GTP, a silver dollar at 3 inches. Yeah, right, last one of those I dug out was a big Stanley tape measure at almost 10 inches. So I dig up a 5 inch plug and re-scan the hole...nothing. Scanned the plug...ding ding...still says silver dollar. I turn the plug over and I see the glinting reeded edge of a big silver coin. Did that e1 (800x758).jpge2 (800x773).jpgbefore and got Long John Silver's kid's buccaneer tokens on several occasions, so I was literally trembling when I pulled out a peace Dollar. Almost wet myself...(getting on in years, don't ya know). Man,there really is nothing like a little research, Can't wait to go back after the city cuts the grass, thanks for reading and for all your great posts.

She is a beauty, congrats Fiddler

That is a rare find ! Most detectorists will never find a silver dollar in their entire career !!!

Hey Arg, I know, I am pushin' 60 and I been coinhunting since 28 (I mean since I was 28, not 1928...ha ha) and this is my only silver dollar, I was stunned, after all those piles of clads and screw caps!

Great find! Congrats and HH!
