Comments:my first silver find!

UPDATED PICS. Thanks for the advice!

I found a 1900 barer quarter. I'm proud to have some silver under my belt. Found near a late 1800's one room school house. This is my first post on here. Looking forward to many more. Also, I need some tips on how to photograph coins appropriately. I have a 7.2 mp camera but it's horrible on things up close. Focusing is a major issue. Cheers.

Wow. Thanks to everyone for the replies and especially for the camera advice. Enclosing better pics now. The barber isn't in very good shape (looks to be VERY pocket worn) but man, it was a rush to find it! Thanks for the welcome and I also enclosed some pics of other interesting items. While not valuable, I think there's a lot of history int he ground where I live and my kids get a kick out of some of the stufff we've pulled up so far. Let me know if the pics are up to snuff now. Thanks!!!

Welcome, and congratulations on your Barber quarter!

Just wanted to let you know, there is a program that will allow you to resize your image in one quick step. On the page that I have put in here as a link is a free microsoft program called Image resizer. Works like a charm and you can access it through your right click. Here is the link to the program.

Nice barber quarter. This is the first time i've ever had to scroll 56 wide inches to see a post. Anyone know why that is ????? ::) :violent1:

Great job!!!! I am still waiting to find my first Barber coin.

Fantastic! Barbers are the best and the other relics ain't to shabby either.

Congrats on a great coin for your first post. Do you mind if I post a resized photo?

Sweet find..I use a kellyco magnifier glass on the end of my lens and it works great for close ups in tulip mode

Thanks guys! In the future, I'll resize to a more agreeable resolution. Someone recommended using some xp power tools image resizer, but I have vista. It has adobe premier on it, but I'm not familiar with the software. Should I take the pics in a lower megapixel, or should i take at the highest megapixel count and resize in software for the best pics? does it matter? and what is the easiest software to resize the resolution down to acceptable levels. i.e. 800x 600. I'm on a 24 inch monitor at 1900x1200 so it looks good on my screen, but im sure 15 inch monitors are hurting their fingers with all the scrolling.

WTG on the barber. next time soak it in some water before cleaning. won't be as many scratches on it. just a hint

Thanks, but those scratches must just be from me fiddling with it. I haven't cleaned it at all. Any suggestions for a good cleaning, or should I just check for silver cleaning on the forums?
