Was detecting where I didn’t expect to find anything old. Was getting clad and a religious pendant which I will put in the school lost and found tomorrow. Then this 1875 IHC. Had to have my kid use his eyes to confirm the date.
Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

NICE FIND :) WHat part of Michigan ?

That is a beautiful medal. Congrats!

They tore up the streets and sidewalks in Allegan last summer. Did you get a chance to hunt that?
No. I never convinced myself self to go. And assumed there would be a crowd of people detecting there.
Was happy with my permission’s last year.
Found my 1st Large Cent, shield nickel & Barber anything (dime).

I went up there one time. It was just too far for me. An hour and a half one way. They had the streets torn out but not the sidewalks when I was there. My brother got one crusty 1880 IHP. That was it.

Also, the street construction sites are hit and miss. It all depends on how extensive the excavation was the last time they were torn up. What I saw there did not look promising. Here's a story I wrote (published in Treasure Magazine in 1994) that shows what can happen when you hit a good one.
