Got a MD for Christmas and decided to run out today in my backyard and practice. My house was built in '47, but the property was all in one family, with the original homestead going up probably in the 20s. Nothing earth shattering, but pleased to find what I did.

One hole had 4 coins together, but modern 1970s-1980s stuff. Still cool to find a spill.

1935 wheat penny
1943 quarter (silver right?)
And a foil milk cap from a long gone dairy, 1930s I believe
A few nails of course and a chunk of metal that I cant ID.
Forgot to picture a little buckle of sorts.

Just a simple bounty hunter adventure 5500 from cabelas. Pleased with what I found though. The quarter was by accident. Happened to be next to an old drain pipe of sorts in the yard. But Ill take it!

Welcome to the forum Jim. My husband found a breastplate with a Bounty Hunter, don't remember which model though. Wishing you many terrific finds in 2016.

Welcome to Tnet and to the obsession. You had a great 1st outing. A coin spill and a silver quarter makes for a great hunt. It took me 4 months to find my 1st silver quarter.

Once bitten by the metal detecting bug your hooked!!! Welcome have fun as I am and this was my second season.

Very nice finds, What detector did you get?

Thanks all! I do feel lucky finding silver, local history, and a small spill my first time right on the side of my house. Went out again today with the sensitivity jacked up a bit in the same area. Came across.... junk. I also got a "coin" hit, tough dig under some roots and couldn't find it before the sleet started falling. I promptly went inside and ordered a pinpointer. Should make life easier. Also knabbed a small shover and a trowel with a cutting edge. Happy Hunting! I'm hooked!

I definitely relate when it comes to the nails. Just started metal detecting too. All I've found so far are nails.:BangHead: Still haven't found any coins though....
