Detector(s) used
Current: Tesoro silver umax, Whites Spectrum XLT
Past: Garrett ace 250
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
So I took out my Whites XLT for the first time at a spot I thought I hit hard with my tesoro silver umax. The first thing I dug with this new detector was a 1939 Canadian penny. And it was smooth sailing after that digging up some more older Canadian cents and finishing it off with a 1911 wheatie. I also have two other things that look interesting but I don't know what they are. Also what would be the best way to clean the coins up?

Great hunt! Congrats on your new machine.

Thanks, loving the deep depths and sensitivity I am getting now.

Never a bad day when you can dig up some coins.. Congrats

True pong, was questioning though. Where is all the silver? :laughing7:

I found a penny about three weeks ago filthy little guy stuck it in my bag of goodies and went on detecting.thought it wad a stinkin lincoln.Got home cleaned it up and BOOM 1934.A 1911 IN THAT CONDITION TO BE FOUND IN MY OPINION IS THE KIND OF FIND THAT CAN ONLY BE CELEBRATED WITH A LITTLE DETECTOR DANCE HEHEHEHEHE CONGRATS AND KEEP DIGGIN MY FRIEND :-)

Good job buddy.... I hope my XLT Spectrum "comes alive" Thursday morning into a cave I'm exploring. But you did a fine job.... Keep it up!!!!!!!

Gotta love the XLT. After a while you will be fairly accurate as to what your digging before you dig. However sometimes they do lie!! Lol. Great stuff and HH.

Copper Coin Cleaning

Hello and well done on your finds! There are 2 ways of cleaning copper coins that I have heard of. One is electrolysis. There are machines that you can buy that do this. It is also possible to make one yourself but be warned you may turn your coin into a slug. The other I heard is rubbing it with olive or mineral oil. Again be warned as all these methods will change the patina of the coin. Sometimes the patina is the value of the coin....by the way I scored my first large cent (1851) today in my front yard! AT Pro FTW!

I find my relation with my xlt kind of like a marriage. She usually tells the truth, but because I have trust issues, I dig into everything and have caught her up in a few lies;) great machine. Just started using mixed mode. Now I have sniped a few silvers in a bed of iron.

Mine has been tagged "The other woman". Lol.

Broke my oldest coin date just yesterday picking up a 1907 Indian Head.

Oldest coin with my xlt is a 1894 fatty indian head. Cloud nine all day.
