First Hunt Of The Year & I've Got A BEAUTIFUL Seated Dime!!!
I managed to get out Saturday with BuckleBoy and diggergirl for my first hunt of the year.
We went to a spot that BuckleBoy and some other members of the group had previously hunted and turned up some nice finds. After about 30 min. of bouncing my coil against corn stubble 
, I got a nice signal at about 5.5 inches. I popped out a shovel full of dirt, and scanned it in pinpoint mode. Just as I pinpointed it, I got a visual on the target. 
It was in-cased in a clod of dirt with just the edge exposed.
I forgot to bring my camera along, so I called out to BuckleBoy "Bring the camera!!". He was happy to do so.
I knew I had found silver, but how old?? Was it a 1950's Roosevelt dime that a farmer pulled out of his pocket while getting his handkerchief, or was it a seated dime that was lost 150+ years ago

I gently pulled the clod apart to expose a beautiful seated dime.
From what I could see, it appeared to be in excellent condition. I resisted the urge to wipe the dirt off and packed it in some cotton balls till I got home.
When I got home, I held it under the faucet to reveal.............
A STUNNING 1853 SEATED LIBERTY DIME!!!!! (My first seated, and my oldest silver to date). I was a little disappointed to find that the reverse had been scratched by something, probably a rock that was shoved into it by a plow. It definitely didn't get scratched on Saturday. Although the value is greatly diminished by those little scratches, I wouldn't take a $1000.00 for it anyway. My goal was to find a seated coin in 2010. I managed to do that on my first hunt. It's going to be a good year.

I got my find of the year for '09 in November, I found an 1829 1/2 cent. That's one heck of a find for Indiana. Now, I've already found my goal for 2010. I love this hobby. I wish my dime had been an "O" mint mark, but I'm not complaining. Thanks for the comments. 
I'm up 8-5 on him for 2010 so far
