Went on my second trip to the beach with two friends who knew what they were doing .In 4 hours we had found one junk ring and the usual pull tabs and clad. I made 4 or 5 scoops on the best sounding target I had all day and called my friend over to help. He made 1 scoop and handed me a pull tab. I started to walk away and he said wait there’s another target. He made another scoop, looked in and asked who's is it? I said I'm not saying, “what have you got?” He reached in the scoop like he was getting something then dumped out the shells and said junk. I said man I would have split it if it was something good. He stuck up his finger with a ring on it and said that's what he wanted to hear.
It was my anniversary, and when I left the house I jokingly told my wife I would try to find her something nice. It fits her perfect so all I had to do was give my friend half the melt value, and everyone was happy. 3 grams 10K with rubies. No big value, but made our day.

Your target, your hole, his scoop...I would say you were had. Nice find but that is no friend.

Lookindown stated he started to walk off when his friend said wait there is another target....Appears to me his friend could have let him walk off and kept it himself...........Sounds like a fair deal to me....

I have a friend who said he was giving up on target in a hole in chest deep water, I took over and recovered a nice gold wedding band, I paid him for his half share of the ring and kept it myself... He was using a 5" scoop and evidently kept missing the ring.

Treasure_Hunter, that is fine when its all about the money. If I call a friend to help me out when I am having trouble, and I end up having to give up half the value. It would be the last time I ever asked for help from anyone. If I were the friend, I would have simply handed over what he described as the best target of the day. My bad, must be the honesty and integrity shining through.

THATS A BEAUTY!! Amazing find! ;D

So splitting the value of something recovered by two people is an attack on someone's honesty and integrity..... Personally I offered half the value of the ring I found which I thought was fair since my friend gave up on it and was walking away from it when I started digging...

Awesome ring! :headbang:

TH I am not attacking anyone elses integrity. I am simply saying that I feel the friend took advantage and had I been in the friend's shoes I would not have done what he did.

RFrady you may want to read his post again! lookindown said "man I would have split it if it was something good." It was lookindown's idea to split it. He simply could have said "it would have been mine" if he wanted to... By the way I was that friend. :hello:

Nice ring!!! :hello2: hope you fine more in the near future. Good Luck And Happy Hunting!!!

This guy would give you the shirt off his back. He has been letting me use one of his scoops until I buy one. We grew up together and have always been a team. He would give me a ring he found before he would take something he didn't deserve.
