I have never done gold nugget metal detecting yet but one day I will.

I bet it's a whole lot of silence and then BOOM, a beep after 3 hours. Is that about the gist of it?

Gpx 4500 and the stock 12x15 mono coil.
I may be getting a Garrett Axiom soon at the price reduction. That old 4500 is getting heavy especially with that coil. Nugget Finder discontinued all the bigger Evo coils so I can’t even get the coils I want for the 4500 anymore. Heck I can’t even find a new coil skid plate for my 14x9 evo. And the one I have is toast so that coil is out of commission. So yeah I would like a gpx6000 but it’s $7,000 and I can get a close runner up in the Axiom for $1,995 now that $5,000 difference is a game changer.

Well not exactly. It all starts with research and then a long hike in rugged terrain to the old diggings you researched. Then when you start detecting you find out how much trash was left behind by the old timers. Square nails, bullets, pellets, cans, flat iron, lead fragments, bullet casings, wire bits etc…some days I dig over 100 targets in a trashy area. Even spots that are detected heavily still produce the trash targets just not as many.

Well done on the first gold of the season.

First nuggets of 2025 I’ve only been out 2 times this year so far and got skunked the first time. Yesterday was golden! Found these in a patch I have worked to death but it’s still giving up some nice nuggets every once in a while! Never give up!
Excellent 👍👍

Hi mate. Which Axiom is it at that price the Lite?
The full package here is nearly 8k, the lite nearly 4k.

It’s the light package. The full package is now $2,995. The light package is fine for me. I’d rather use my own headphones and just buy the coils I want. The coils are only about $300.

Yeah true about coils. I remember when I got a 5000 and it came with 3 coils 2 which were useless to me. Id have preferred the option of no extra coils too and buy my own.
Good luck when you get it.

I’m not getting rid of my 4500 ever. But I am going to try the Axiom pretty soon I think. I havnt order one yet. There has been a lot of really good feedback here in California with it and I mean at that price it’s worth a try for me.
