just got back from short trip to Bahamas
started off slow - finished strong
others had been here over the last 2 weeks - I had to take left overs - no new coins or new jewelry
sometimes walked for hours with out a hit
- tungsten ring and titanium might have been more recent drops
about 98% of finds were foot or more down - a lot of stuff was faint and close to 2 feet down
I hunted in all metal most of the time -gold was deep - silvers were deep
most all coins had a crust - some more than others
I got into the zone an hour before I had to leave - heavy crusted coins -gold ring with diamonds and rubies and encrusted silver band
I know theres more gold in that spot -it was a jet ski area -
all over the world - where they have jet ski rentals - they throw you out (no swimming -no detecting) - but if you go early before they are there - bingo
regular swimming areas on both sides I got junk and almost no good targets like 100 yrds in both directions
other guys that hit here could not hit when jet skis were operating and hammered the swim areas too
- I went in that spot at 7am
and was getting tons of hits - more good than bad there - had to move at 9am when they set up
wish I could have stayed another day - I know theres more gold in there with the amount of good deep targets I was getting
others missed these caked coins and deep targets (this is a popular beach with visiting TH'ers) - so Im sure if I go back - stuff will probably be there - unless others start using all metal and taking it all out
1 - platinum & 18k gold ring (very heavy)
2 - white & yellow 14k bands
1 - white gold 14k band
1 - ruby & diamond ring 14k
2 - silver
1 - tungsten carbide
1 - titanium
1 - junker? - might be silver -have to test

WOW, any silver coins? (sort of a melodramatic answer, I know)

Did you do a lot of research about what public beaches you wanted to hit before you got there, or just hit the ones outside your hotel?

USUALLY I DO RESEARCH FOR WHERE EVER I GO
I USUALLY RENT A CAR ALWAYS - THIS TRIP I DID NOT
SO WAS LIMITED TO WHERE I COULD GO - THERE WERE OTHER BEACHES I WANTED TO HIT - JUST NOT ENOUGH TIME - THERE ARE A LOT OF GUYS THAT HIT THESE BCHS - THERE ARE A HANDFUL OF GROUPS OF GUYS THAT SHACK UP A FEW TIMES A YEAR AND RENT A VAN AND HIT 2-3 BCHS A DAY AND TRY TO GET IT ALL - SO COMPETITION CAN BE ROUGH - LUCKILY ALOT OF THESE GUYS STAY IN BELOW CHEST DEEP AND MOST CRANK THEIR DISCRIMINATORS UP TO NOT GET ANY JUNK - SO I CAN MANAGE A FEW EVEN IN HAMMERED CONDITIONS
i HIT MAINLY AROUND MY RESORT AND A MILE TO THE EAST AND MILE TO THE WEST

NO - I WAS HOPING TO HIT A FEW OLDER AREAS I RESEARCHED - BUT NOT ENOUGH TIME

That is a helluva haul Casper! Congrats!

Great job! Looks like you killed it out there. If I were you I would have stayed out there a few more weeks till this mess is over. Congrats

ADSC00003.JPG this is what I was getting right before I had to get out to pack and check out
didn't want to leave getting finds like this - water hunters know - but for you land guys - you get crusted coins like this - means they been there a while and it also means they were missed - which means other goodies could be missed - like more gold

Way to ring in the new year!

Great pics, Casper! Really like the last one of you detecting. Always wondered how hard core water detecting was done. Must be a bit of a challenge to actually dig something that's deep. Thanks for sharing.

I wear dive boots with hard soles - if I get a faint -potential deep target - I fan with my foot - you'd be surprised how much sand you can displace with a few fans of your foot - I then recheck - signal is usually twice as loud and then I scoop - I use a scoop with one of the larger baskets - usually I'll get the target on the first scoop - sometimes it takes 2 - a lot of the stuff I was getting was 2-3 scoops down - been doing it for quite some time - so got it down to a science
but every beach is different and sometimes the same beach can have 2 or more different conditions to it - mask helps

Awesome rings:notworthy:

Holey cow, Casper! What a fantastic amount of keepers!! I know you hated to leave that place! lol
WTG!!

DSC00002 (2).JPG another keeper from the trip
thought this was junk at first - it was really encrusted (pic is after I took a lot of it off)
it was straight and brown and green discolored - but after being in with other finds -some of
the links gave way and I took a closer look and noticed the clasp at the end - "hey ...its a bracelet!"
it is a silver bracelet - only worth scrap cause its rough shape - but still a keeper

Still dude you get credit for cleaning the environment ! We all KNOW how that goes! Congrats! Awesome finds! You are an artist at it!

My husband just talked about doing this yesterday, I gotta show him this post! Really awesome! Thanks for sharing this!!!

that trash pic was only part of it - there were larger pieces that I threw out - did want to take back to my room - that pic was taken night before I left - so thurs. morning
s junk is not in there - lot more can pieces and more glass - got a few bottle necks - its not only a good thing to do for the environment but for swimmers safety and if some one ever wants to give you a hard time - thinking you are just a "gold digger" - you can shut them up by showing them the trash
