I am whitesdfx300 on the web site. If you do this...want to do this....or have no idea what it is....lets talk!! Here are a few pics of todays hunt. 2 caches in about 1 1/2 hours.

I and a few buddies have been wanting to get into this pretty bad, just waiting on the extra funds to buy a GPS...(if that ever happens)...

I started myself out with a magellan explorist 100. I got it off ebay new sealed for $60 with free shipping. That is a cheap easy way to get started. It works great....the only downside is you cant download coords in it....you have to type them in manually. But.....it still does the job well! Go for it! And as someone else pointed out....if you do run across a great md site...like a civil war camp or an old homestead....one click will save the coords and you will always be able to get right back to the spot!

muggles are non geocachers "lurkers" who rip off , loot and destroy caches -- normally they see a cacher working a site and move in afterward looting the site -- stealing any trade goods and wreaking the cache in general .

You know....I wandered about that...I am just getting started so havent encountered that yet.....but I wont be surprised when I do.

I've never thought it would be for me. I'd much rather dig stuff out of the ground and keep it! ;D

Oh, I am way more into MD. BUT.....when you do this....take the detector with you.....always a chance to walk up on a great place to dig!

Ironically I started out geocaching and then went to metal detecting. The thought of what could be under the ground at some of these sites was what got me into it.

Absolutely.....geocaching takes you to places you have never been.....there is a lot of country out there to be explored and DUG!

I have been geocaching for almost 4 years with 600+ finds. It's a lot of fun and a great outdoors exercise. I was caching before MDing and it is great resource for finding areas to detect.

That is great! I was very surprised to see so many people up into the several thousands.

I just started to get interested in GeoCaching. I have a son that is special needs and I believe  this would be a great activity to do with him. He hates being in places that have to many people (except amusement parks ;D ), he loves parks and being outside so scavengerhunts should be a great activity. Have joined Geocache web-site already, need to save and get a GPS. And the weather to get a bit more warmer :icon_sunny:

I geocache also. Alot of these are hidden around old home sites or other great mding sites. And it is alot of fun trying to locate the "treasure".
