Found this flat button today and also what is likely a copper artifact (awl).

Congratulations on that beautiful fancy flat button, but that copper awl is what has my attention. What area of the country did you dig these finds? What machine are you using? Copper relics are my favorite items to find. The fact that here in the US you can find something potentially thousands of years old still blows my mind. I've been fortunate to find a handful of relics in the last 2 years. Looks just as sharp as the day it was lost likely a millenia or two or three ago.

Super nice! Looks like that could potentially be a sewing awl. Sure looks like it could pierce leather.

I’m in the upper peninsula of Michigan, around the Great Lakes.. specifically the northern shores of Lake Michigan. I’ve got a Minelab vanquish 540. The awl was quite near the surface, maybe 4 inches down.
