Well up here in the frozen north we had a brief thaw. I knew that Jan 1-3 were going to be ok to dig before it got cold again. Went out all three days for a little while and scored me some more keepers. Jan 1 keepers were 3 wheats, a 37 Canadian cent, and a 59 Memorial (first year). Jan 2 I got the first silver of the year, a 1920 merc. It's pretty rough because it came from an area of gravel. Also got a wheat, an 1899 V nickel, a neat glass front button with a design inside, and a "Bride Silver plate" fork. Jan 3 after running all my errands I had two hours left so back to the site. Two more wheats, an 1889 Indian, and a sweet sterling US Navy pin. This was worn during WWII. usually by a mom with a son in the service. Now it is all froze up again and expecting 4-8" of the white stuff with lots of near 0 wind chills!

Great finds and pictures. It is too cold and the ground is hard for me to go treasure hunting in Connecticut. I be out in April or May with a new detector. Good hunting and good luck.

Awesome! I love that Navy pin. You definitely have the lead on me in 2017.

Great results! Taking advantage of a narrow gap in Winter paid off. The Navy pin is very cool and it's always fun to find a Mercury dime. Off to a great start in 2017!

Good job Mike those are some nice finds Ive been busy tumbling my clad from 2016 I plan to hit some spots this weekend here in A2 I don't mind the cold cause I have warm gear just the frozen ground. I see it like this 10 more weeks it should be over and Ill get plenty of time in between Thanks for the post!!!!!

Love the Military pin.. That's awesome.. Congrats on the other finds too.

Congrats on a great start to the 2017 season. :occasion14: Were all of these finds from the same sit, just on different days? If so you have a great site. Looks like you puller your share of keepers.

Taking advantage of the break in the weather was a great move. It really paid off. I do live Mercurys, but the Navy Service Pin is a super find.
Congrats

That medal is awesome!, great finds!!

very nice finds, congratulations! :occasion14:

We are getting snow, hopefully not much! :BangHead:

Nice finds for sure, is the Navy Pin silver, did you look for marks, it looks like silver? The Navy pin is my favorite.

First pic was one site, the other were all from a 2nd site. Both sites have given up many keepers over the years, and they keep on giving. :icon_thumright:

Very well done sir!

That Navy pin is killer. I am a coin guy, but that's a sweet little pin you found.

Stunning Navy Mom pin, congrats! Sub 8-)
