- Detector(s) used
- delta 4000 / ace 250 - used BH and many others too
I just got a delta 4000 today put her together --and went out side with her off the front poach * --- got a "82" signal at 8 to 10 inches -- book "numbers" guide says that means older pre 1982 copper cent or clad dime *ring up the same due to similar (copper core on the clad) metal make up --- sure nuff it was a 1954 wheatie *
basic info on it --- it has 2 "hunting" modes ==disc and all metal and a "pin point" button--- "iron out / all esle in" disc is the start up mode ----its a basic --no iron / all else in *(general hunting mode) which can be "adjusted" by notching in or out items as you choose --iron can be notched in if you choose to do so -- with iron in has 3 tones --low, middle and high "ping" with iron out 2 tones mid & HIGH --(normally high ping tone at the 82 or above range *meaning older copper cent pre 82 --clad dime --clad quarters --halves and silver coins -- silver Dollar is a 96 with clean "ping"--- soda can is 96 too but not a GOOD "ping" tone ) high ping means dig ! -- gold like rings comes in at 58 with a MID TONE (for 10 kt / the same as a nickle does ) with 67 MID TONE for 14 kt --- pulltabs from 60 to 65 and zinc cents and IH cents coming in at 76/77 MID TONE
pro's ---- being a numbers type "display" machine along with the low, middle & high tones in disc mode --- it sorts things out much better thus getting rid of a lot of needless digging--- the machine is lightweight but seems well built.
con's --- it revets to its basic no iron "disc mode" set up upon shut down and doesn't "remember" your "notched" settings so upon turning on if you want to "customize" the setting they must be redone -- the tone in all metal mode is annoying ( think since all metal uses only one tone --it could be more pleasing to the ear) and the headset supplied with it is kinda lame * --the connection link between the ear cup and the head band was broke on mine upon arrival (seems to be rather delicate) --their going to replace it but the design seems well a bit poorly designed --the detector itself however is lightweight and easy to use and understand and seems well built on first look.
--FIRST LOOK THOUGHTS ---ALL IN ALL A GOOD LIGHT IN WEIGHT BUT STILL DECENTLY BUILT NOT TOO EXPENSIVE NUMBERS MACHINE -- WITH GOOD SEPERATION ABILTY AND DECENT DEPTH, -- YEP LIKE WHAT I SEE.
