I went out to our Winchester spot this afternoon for 2 hrs, where they are doing some logging, and found a few goodies in the hunted out woods. Over an hour went by with nothing but a Spencer cartridge rim. After almost walking the entire length of the woods i circled around and came across a trashy signal amongst a lot of iron signals. I dug the plug and lost it, couldn't pick up anything but iron. But something told me to step on the clump of dirt to break it up and out popped something. After picking it up and trying to read it upside down :icon_scratch:, i turned it around and saw the "US" and knew i had something good. I then dug everything out of this spot but all i got was about 10 square nails and a half a horseshoe. I'm not sure what exactly this is so a positive I.D. would be great, thanks. I then moved on and worked closer to the field and got my 3rd Eagle button from the woods. With them logging they are smashing down all the under growth that we could never MD before, so i'll be back in there soon to see what else will turn up. Thanks for looking and HH!!!

Thanks man! There was hardly any signals in there, the machines really rutted up the ground. Once it drys out we should be able to do where they were driving and find some more.

It's weird i didn't find any bullets?

Might go back to the lot then tomorrow. Sam found all the bullets I guess. That's 2 US rossettes for you now.

Great finds. That button looks sweet.

They call it a "stippled U.S. bit boss" I think F2. That's on my wish list. They are good finds and the Eagle GS button is in great shape. Hit that site again. WTG, Quindy.

SWEET lookin bit boss and button!! CONGRATS.. HH

Nice Bit Boss. Both ears are intact, which isn't always the case. Nice GS button as well. Those logging activities should make some more accessable.

You're in the best place in SW Virginia to dig CW relics. That's a GREAT rosette, and I'm sure you'll hit the bullets soon. They can't be far off!

Congrats,

Buck

P.S.--I have yet to dig one of those rosettes, and I have been digging for 20 years.

Thank you BuckleBoy, This place has been detected since the mid 80's and my cousin and a co-worker and I have been detecting here since Summer of 2011 and have pulled 50+ Bullets and Many buttons just out of this little stretch of woods. I think we have found most the bullets, i'm hoping that with all the undergrowth gone now i might find that US Buckle!
