White's M6; Tesoro Compadre; Minelab E-trac; Bounty Hunter QD2
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I was able to get out for a total of about six hours between yesterday and today to swing my new detector. It has been a learning experience, for sure. The M6 is light years ahead of my Bounty Hunter!

When I first fired it up it almost felt like sensory overload. I'm running it in tone mode with the disc at zero and sensitivity balls to the walls. All the posts I've read saying this thing hits coins hard was not kidding. I dug a dime at almost eight inches. I was lucky to get a 4" dime with my Bounty Hunter.

I still have a lot of hours to put on the M6 before I'm proficient with it, but I don't think my results were too shabby. Thanks for looking!

Looks very promising. Lots of clad there. Good luck on the older stuff.

Nice job with the new detector. Hope you have time to score some keepers before the season ends.

It appears you are getting to know what our new machine is telling you to dig.Silver is next.

Congrats on your finds and your new detector.I am always eager to see posts mentioning the M6 as I bought one just over 2 years ago.I really love the accuracy of their pinpointing. You have already found a coin at 8in.That's 1 1/2 in deeper than my deepest and I usually hunt in moist soil conditions and yet I have found small items like musket balls, copper rivets,.22 bullets,.22cartdrige cases and 5/16 stainless steel washers at 7-9 in.dunno.With the exception of a few small patches of ground if I run my sensitivity any over factory preset I get a mild and faint crackle in my headphones and figured this was detrimental to depth.Sorry that I moaned on your post.

I love my M6 until I fell down a rock face and destroyed it a couple of months ago ! I thought about getting it fixed but then saw the mx sport and just bought it , mainly because I want to start water detecting

I sold my m6 and actually miss it! I liked the MX-5 better because of its threshold and 2 tone but the 6 was a close second.

I didn't like to hunt in multiple tone because that audio is terrible IMO big the m6 has a very clean, unfiltered single tone mode. I only switched to multiple tone to check targets.

I've actually found that the last little bit of sensitivity into the "chatty detector zone" makes a HUGE difference in the depth. The next time you take it out, crank her up to full, and when you fine a promising sounding deep target, turn it down just a bit. I think thee results will speak for themselves. Thanks for the reply!

Sweet spoon, Dan! Looks sterling, I hope it is.

I believe it was actually just a layer of silver that has mostly been worn away. The little bit you can see in the picture in the concave part where there is still some left. Thanks for the reply!

Congrats on getting out and using your new detector. Sounds like you are a teenager with a new hot rod. Pedal to the metal. :headbang:

I agree that the single tone has better audio qualities, but I cannot stand having to look at the screen after every beep. I bought the M6 because it's a legendary coinshooter, and also for the seven tone mode. I have learned that I prefer to hunt mostly by ear.

I usually just hunted in single then flipped the toggle to check targets before ever looking at the screen. It seemed like a much cleaner audio in single tone

Congratualtions on the new detector and very productive hunt! :occasion14:

Take your time and learn the machine and most of all enjoy the journey.

Congrats nice hall!

Diffinately run thru all the different configurations so you are familiar with its responces.
It has a love for silver.

You will want to test it out on the gold which sometimes reads as foil, it depends on what metal the gold is mixed with.

Most of the places i hunt are extremely trashy so tone mode is what i use most.
Great machine!
