Equinox 800
I found myself with a couple hours free yesterday afternoon, so I grabbed my equinox and headed out. When I got to my first spot I could see goose hunters set up where I wanted to go. I was a little disappointed but I had another spot nearby and headed that way only to run into more goose hunters.....grr. I was running out of daylight so pointed the truck toward home. Then I remembered a new permission that had been deep plowed in the fall. I got there with an hour of daylight left. It was pretty rough walking but I set off on a 300yard loop hoping to find some signs of life for a future trip. There was some brick and pottery pieces where my research showed there were houses in the 1800s but I was getting very few signals... an old copper fuse cap, a couple alum arrow pieces and an old round ball. Less than 100yds from my truck and not far from where i dug the arrow pieces, I got a jumpy high tone....25-31. I almost didnt dig it thinking it was the top of a beer can. I am sure glad I did!!! I ran my pinpointer around the hole and out popped my first Spanish silver!! 1786 1/2 Reale!! Unfortunately, it looks like i scratched it with my shovel, but I still like it.
Thanks for looking- HD

We do need to dig those big, shallow hard hitting targets. Sometimes they are very good things!

Congratulations on the Sweet Old Silver!:headbang::occasion14::hello2:

Congrats on the Spanish silver. I bet detecting over a goose hunting field could be very frustrating with all of the #2 lead and steel shot everywhere.

A 1700's Spanish silver coin - a fantastic find - congrats !

Congrats on recovering your first Spanish silver :icon_thumright:

Excellent recovery. Now that the monkey is off your back you'll be putting a collection together like Steve in PA's. Well, better go find #2 reale quick anyway..
