First 90% half for 2013

just pretend you got 5 dimes out of the 2 boxes

One of my favorite tellers saved a 1962 Quarter for me the other day; she is the best! Man, if I were 20 years younger... (**sigh) :)

Brush - that's great. Just curious, do you and others who have tellers save silver for you simply ask the tellers to save silver coins (i.e., do you educate them on which coins are silver and ask them to hold them)? This would be a fantastic arrangement, but I'm not sure how you deal with the fact that once the tellers are clued in (if they aren't already) they will snipe the silver for themselves.

I wouldn't use the s word unless a teller uses it first. I have tellers who save halves for me but I wouldn't clue them in. They either don't know or don't care about silver. I do let them know I like OLDER coins, 60's or earlier. If you spot a "white edge" in the teller tray, use that term when asking for it. White edge sounds so much nicer then silver edge.

Thanks. I agree the best way to deal with halves is to ask them to save all of them (there's not many out there circulating). I obviously wouldn't ask anyone to save all the quarters for me, so I guess you just ask them to save the old quarters (60's and earlier), but seems like a pain for them to do, especially give all the 1965+ quarters out there.

I use the term "steel quarter" when I am around tellers due to their grey edge.

If you have a great teller who likes you, wants to help, and does in fact, know about silver, then maybe they would save silver for you. Otherwise older coins might have to mean earlier designs like standing liberty, barber, mercury, etc. Tellers might not realize they are silver, but they are obviously older coins and your teller should understand that you want this type of coin. Good luck.
