I haven't been on T-Net much the past few days. I needed a break. It was a gloomy week outside, and on this forum as well. I'm sorry I have missed everyone's posts and finds.
Today felt like the first day of spring. The sun finally came out, the temps are up around +10 (50F). So strange to be t-shirt and shorts weather this early, it's wonderful. There isn't any snow left, but the ground is hard as a rock, even the grassy areas make a "ping" sound when I try to jab my sharp poker into the ground. By next weekend it should be dig time.
Sitting in my living room I start to hear sirens, I turn and see smoke everywhere. Holy crap! Out the door I went. It turns out the town maintenance man burned a pile of branches/leaves on the golf course. The wind picked up, sparks flew, and the fire jumped. The fire dept. was on the scene and put out the blaze.
A large portion of where this fire burned is an area that never gets mowed, waist deep grass. I have detected mercilessly on either side. Now I have a few acres of prime detecting real estate to pound! There are a few wagon tracks that run through there, plus I'm sure kids played in the trees there as far back as the town's history, and it's on the golf course. I'm pretty sure there will be something to find.
Of course I don't like seeing fires, but I'm going to turn this into a positive.
