Wow that's a beautiful reconstruction Crabby. Super find!

thank you, when i started deting october of 2015, i only was interested in coins, now i love everything 1800s and older, this mug has made me very happy, a year ago i would have even really noticed the pieces in the dirt, let alone dig a massive hole of somenes trash, i have come to really love and care for our history

Dude i love this! Just the ability to get basically a whole one put back together. I have no idea how rare these are but for me the effort and final product are banner worthy. Just awesome to see these put together after going through 1000's of pieces of pottery and always wondering what they looked like back then. Congrats!

Yep, I remember your finds early on and I'm happy you've become a fan of old. I'm very glad to see you picked up on those pieces, collected them, cleaned, and reconstructed. I've not been lucky enough to find an undisturbed pit, but seeing killer reconstructions like yours keeps my dreams alive. Keep at it

there appears to be multiple other pits in the same area, but i will have to wait as the farmer just rowed the area today

Great reconstruction of the mug, it's refreshing to see this happen to finds as this. Most times they never see the light again.

I'm really looking forward to what you pull out of there. A couple years ago I was encouraged to sift and find trash piles\pits by a good friend and extremely knowledgeable member on here. It opened a whole new aspect of this hobby for me and has been some of the most fun I've ever had in the field. Most of my reconstructions are late 1700's to early 1800's and I've only totally completed 1 bowl and about a half dozen items are 50% to 75% complete... along with loads of bone and mother of pearl buttons as well as countless non-metalic artifacts that really complete the story of a site. I'm really glad you are also getting into this sort of thing... its as addicting or more addicting than just regular detecting. While I'm sitting in a huge hole, I often laugh at what the people who discarded all their "trash" would think if they knew someone 200 years later would be gathering shards of their broken garbage and trying to put it back together. :laughing7:
