This week started off nice and smooth, I had a number of things to get done this week before taking off Friday and Monday to extend the holiday weekend. But before I could do that I had a plan to work late each day and be done by Thursday. Well what happened on Tuesday changed all that , while driving in an old area near my town I noticed an old farm house that use to stand in one area had been knocked down and the area around it had been bulldozed . The contractors removed about a foot of soil and the detecting adventure was about to begin. So now I asked myself one question , do I keep working like I have planned to do or do I just quit a little early and go Detect that area? ??? Well that was a no brainer!!! ;D I quit early , got the detector and made my way back to the site and the contractor told me to just knock my self out. With that being said I made my way out and by dark all I had was 2 lead seals ( one with markings) a very worn religious cross, a nice brass key hole plate and some coins that are not worth mentioning! What a disappointment....... But with that being said , by Thursday I had all my work complete and it was time to pack and the next morning being Friday make my way to the campsite. Now as I have mentioned before this site was an old scout camp back in the 1940's and closed in the 60's or so! Friday was an excellent day but when I got up Saturday morning it was just raining and just kept on raining all day long. If it was not for the Steak dinner that was scheduled that evening the day would have been a complete washout!
Now Sunday was a little better , there was a light drizzle in the air but that was not going to stop Tim and I from making our way into the woods along the old creek there and find some nice stuff, with only a few wheat cents we made our way up a ridge and hit an area that had two collapsed scout shelters from days gone buy that just looked to good to pass up. Now with silver starting to show up we stayed and detecting this area for part of the day and by dinner time we headed back to the camp and enjoyed a few nice finds. I found a nice 1949 Silver Canadian quarter, 2 Mercury dimes and a few other scout items including a nice Scout Whistle and more Wheat cents. The pic with the 2 washington Quarters were items that I found a couple of weeks ago , so I am sharing them with the forum now . I hope everyone had a nice Holiday weekend and found plenty of nice finds !!!

LOL. Yeah the rain is a pain to work around sometimes. But nice digs, 3 silver quarters is great, even in a period of weeks. Keep it up, HH!

You are afraid of cows? I didnt know that. I didnt think you were afraid of anything! They wont hurt you hon...only have to watch out if a bull is in there too!

Oh yeah ...congrats on the mini ball

Nice Silver. ;D ;D Sounds like fun. I thought the construction site was going to have a happy ending. :D Probably scraped too much off. That is usually the case with me - by the time I get to detecting the site it has nothing but clay left. :P

Yeah, rain kept me inside Saturday also - just caught up on paperwork.

Awesome Seeker! Love the silver! Congrats on your finds....

Nana ;)

Oh....and don't feed the cows...you'll do ok! ;)

Nice finds Seeker.

Don't you wish every hunt could be large cents and colonial coins.

Atleast you got some good post 1900 era spots to go over while you research.
