I've had a couple busy weeks with limited time to hunt. But I did have a couple good scores (for the west coast).
I looked through 2 boxes of halves and both were skunks. Next week I have two more boxes on order.
But I did get $130 in rolls that a teller told me were used to open a bank account. They held 46 40%ers which was a huge day for me. The newest coin in the lot was a '73 so I was a bit surprised that it didn't contain any '64s or earlier (I still have not found any Franklins or WLs). Same day I bought either $5 or $6 in loose halves from teller in other bank and found a 2006 impaired proof. Not silver but still cool to find.
I looked through 4 boxes of dimes and scored '64 x2, '63 x2, '59, and a '53. One box was about 50/50 mix of old dimes and bright shiny new 2011s and it still produced. When I see a box of those I usually cringe because the odds start to be a bit thin. Still better than a box of pure 2011s which I had been getting.
For the first time I started some nickels (I sort those late after a long day of studying, helps shut down the brain so I can sleep). 2 boxes produced a '45 S war and about 30 pre-1960 coins. My question concerning nickels is the rate people typically find buffalos. From other posts, it appears they are more common that the war nickels. Is that actually the case? I'm itching to score some of those to add to the collection.
And a couple of clad Ikes. I know those aren't a big deal but my kid is sure going to love them under his pillow when he starts losing baby teeth.
