A couple of years ago we got permission to hunt this site. But it didn't look anything like it does today. It was overgrown with Kudzu and weeds, so had to settle for another site on this same property at the time. Riding around several weeks ago, we see that it had been cleared and partially planted! ;D No one was at home at the time, but Lisa rode back back a few days later and found the owner at home. Found out that he was the new owner to the property, but he instantally gave permission for us to hunt the place.

First day there hunting a man rides up and asked us if we had permission to be there. We tell him yeah and chat for a few minutes and he goes on his way. Here's what I found the first day....

The first time we were there, we weren't sure what had been planted other than the tomatoes that were visible, so we tiptoed around the plowed area. Second time there the owner came by and we asked him about it. He said nothing was planted there, and wouldn't be till fall, so go for it! Alrighty then! He leaves and we're hunting and along comes the neighbor that had stopped by the first day. Seems he's pretty upset that we're digging around in what he had just planed in squash! :-X We tell him what the owner had said, so being that he's just borrowing the site to plant he says, OK... then and backs off. We had no idea that he had planed more the day before...and being the nice gals that we are, we avoided the planted area. :D Actually, we hadn't done any damage to the garden anyhow, but that old guy thought we were tearing it up! :D
I found something that I have had on my "gotta find" list....but I totally messed it up. :'( Found it right at the bottom edge of the chimney. Was down about five inches and just my luck, between two rocks. :-X Kept picking till it finally let go and I wanted to cry after I saw what it was I had found and what a mess I had made of it.

You ladies could sweet talk anyone. :-*
Some very nice relics Nana. That baggage tag is a super find!
Next time the old guy thinks you're stepping on his plants, tell him that's why they call them "squash". ;D
Very cool detecting spot.
Congrats,
MM

Great Finds, Nana!!! Loved the old houses/homesteads when I was hunting out of Enterprise/Ft. Rucker area.
By the way, that isn't the neighbor's tooth, is it? You ladies be ladies, even when confronted with a man who

Nice finds I have a Vick's sample like yours. Dug it years ago digging bottles to bad yours is broke. About a year ago i seen a few go on eBay for $10 a piece. I have not checked lately but i bet they are at least that people love cobalt blue.

Great finds there Nana! Yaw Rock :headbang:
TTYL,
Ed

Hey Nana,
I can tell you that that little music box is a Japanscape. That is Mount Fuji and a pagoda.
Cool finds.

Very nice hunt and post Nana. Looks like you got a great place to hunt. I love the old chimney.

I have been looking in my spare time and can't come up with anything else on the RR tag. Maysville is the only city I can connect with L & N. There looks to be some writing on the top piece that is broken. Do you have all the pieces?

Good Luck
Randy

cool finds I like the little wind up thingy is that a music box ?

thanks for sharing.

Silver...yeah, I know. :-\ But happy to report that I didn't break that one. Whew! :D

Thanks, Possum!! :)

Thanks, Dave. Wonder if it was a souvenir from maybe a tour to the area from a soldier?

Thanks, Burt.

Randy...There is writing there....maybe Poole? I saw a website that ID's the makers and that was the closest match I could come up with. :icon_scratch: I don't have all the parts, but I guess I could go back and fetch them. :P

And let me ask you this....concerning the M&L part....is there a chance that the M could signify Mobile, Montgomery or Memphis? I don't have a clue, just asking. :) Thanks for all your help!!

WWW...Thanks!! It is. :)

Thanks, John! :)

OH..almost forgot...I found this neat lock at this site as well....

IMG_1419.jpg

Lisa found a GREAT lock! If I can get her to send me a pic, I'll post it!

Thanks again...

Nana :)

I like the old lock too. Been searching for W W & Co with very little luck. It is called a RR switch lock on some sites so looks like it may have some railway history too.

Randy

Way to go Nana. You found some goodies there. I've seen a lot of those old chimneys standing in edges of fields, etc. I need to start asking about hunting them.

Wow, what a neat bunch of relics, Nana! :hello2: Neat chimney, too.

Keep digging!
