I want to start by thanking Austin McCullough for his hosting me and Russ yesterday in Charleston...we hunted a spot of his and one of ours and came away with some real goodies...I'll take quality over quantity ANY day. So, I'll get right to it!

We were about to head out, Austin had already gone to the car and me and Russ were not far behind him...got one last choppy signal under a root. After digging around for a minute or two, I finally got the target out of the ground...my first reaction was all that work for a piece of scrap brass...picked it up and saw the hole, then the stamped number on the bottom and I KNEW EXACTLY what I had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1847 Charleston Slave Tag. Occupation: Porter

Also got a me a nice British Half Cent from the site as well....

Banner for sure. Congratulations.

strange. fabulous, fantastic, wonderful historical find. a metal tag that identified a person as a piece of property. not even a name of the person.
facinating find? yeah i gues. But its hard for me to think anything wonderful about it.

Now those are some good finds.congrats! That coin is a half real. You can tell because there is just an r on the reverse. If it was one real it would be 1R.

Now THAT'S saving history.

Very nice find! I'm told they are worth 5 figures but never sell anything I find! Congrats.

Awesome find!! Here is the video

CONGRATS on the well deserved banner find.

It's one of the nicest I've seen posted, & the silvers pretty good to!

That is really cool, nice save!

Bittersweet historical find, but extraordinary by anyone's measure. Congrats on the well-deserved banner.

Thanks for all of your votes guys!!! Been on here since 2003! First banner!

Greg

Noteworthy! To be the first in our modern day to hold it in your hand must make you wonder about the forgotten sole who wore it! A grim reminder of mans inhumanity to man...

It is creepy and sad to think of that reality.

I love the 1789 coin, all the finds are awesome!!!! Nice job, congrats!

Awesome piece of history. Great find

Congrats on the Banner! This one of the signifcant fnds everyone likes to see on Top! Well deserved!

Thanks for all of your votes guys!!! Been on here since 2003! First banner! Greg
Huge congrats on your first banner. One of the most historically significant I've seen. These little reminders of a dark past are so important. We can't only remember the great historical moments, it's the terrible ones that teach us and make us better as a society.
