Dug today, think from late 40"s early 50's.

Quart btl, 24 ridges all the way around with
with the following markings.

Front of bottle,
"S" and "J" on top of each other near neck.
followed by
"THIS BOTTLE PROPERTY OF/AND FILLED BY/
LEMONT DAIRY CO/840 W 34ST/CHICAGO ILL"

Back of bottle,
"ONE QUART/LIQUID/SEALED 52/THIS BOTTLE IS
NEVER SOLD"

Bottom,
"LD/37/252"

Question is on the "SEALED 52" on the bottle.
What is the meaning? Is it a date? Why on bottle?
Seems the "SEALED 52" on side and the 252 on bottom
may mean Feb of 52.

I could see having the date on the foil or cardboard cap,
but not on the bottle. Remember we would leave empties
at front or back door and milkman would pick up old ones
and deliver new.

Perhaps after a certain amount of time they would stop
using a bottle, but you think that would depend on condition
and not a date.

all have a good un.......
