What a day! Finally found my first silver at a place I've been over at least a dozen times! Just decided to go back to the remains of the old hired mans house that is literally just outside of my back yard and dig some nails and try to clear the trash out and was swinging along and got an awesome hit that was reading quarter and I thought it was a little old because usually if its rusty iron 'which I assumed it was" it usually falls into the dollar range so I got a little excited and stuck the lesche in and right away popped out this 1895 barber quarter! So stoked right now!

Nice way to break through:thumbsup:

thanks guys was really pumped to see it was a 19th century coin The place is older than I thought it was and I was trying to link it to a gun fight that happened on our property over a sherrif trying to collect wheat to pay off a debt. apparently the sheriff came over to collect the wheat to settle a debt in the 1890's and they got into a shootout and holed up in a house possibly this one until they burnt it down and they surrendered. the foundation does have black burn marks on the stone and they mention that they were shooting sharps repeating rifles so I'm tryin to find a casing that might further link the site to the incident.

That is Very Cool, found many silvers, but all dimes, never a barber anything, good job :icon_thumleft:

Congrats on your first Ag! A Barber is a nice way to break the ice. Good luck and happy hunting

Barber Quarter = HELL OF A FIRST SILVER! I've only found one in 15yrs of digging. LoL

nice! time to fnd some more now!

Congrats, nice barber!!! The first is the most difficult, you should start seeing them a lot more often now!!

Good job. You know there's more down there, you just have to make the effort to find it. I love my Bounty Hunter, it's the Elite 2200, and I'm up to 18 silver coins this month. I like my Bounty Hunter so much, I bought another one just like it on Craigslist that was used only 2 hours 5 years ago, for $80.00. The guy had lost his wedding ring, and bought the MD, and it ended up in his closet. Now I have another one for the time the one I am using quits on me.

That is a fantastic first find. I hope you are not disappointed by your second silver coin, as this one will be tough to top!

that's a great first silver. congrats! my first silver was a '41 washington quarter
