My day started with a trip to the dr. everything looks good. So I hooked up with Texas Yankee, who was finally on my side of town. We went back to an empty lot we hit last year. I got there first and HOLY MOLY my first hit was this 1896 Indian head. Finally!! The medallion is santa maria. 1971 5 something from france. Of course i am focused on the penny.

Been thinking for over 15 min & can not recall finding my 1st IH, Think it's cause the first were a 'spill' of 3 all were common dates & toasted. Still a thrill for me.
That was in 1999 0r 2000 , did not dig another until Summer 2013 ,Got 4 more this year 3 are pretty bad but if I can read a date I'm Happy & 1 was in Very nice Shape= Cool.

I read somewhere recently that folks in the South Hated Cents ( for some Reason) I reckon that 1 big reason I don't find many.

Keep a huntin and more will pop up eventually.
Davers

Congratulations on a cool find

It was a long time before I found my first one. My son found one early on,I didn't know what it was, just knew it wasn't a wheat or a stinking Lincoln. Ha lol
