finally found my first coin today

I finally found a foundation with the old well still there took me 3 hrs to find the place...found a 1887 Indian head penny Im hooked now lol

O yea been doing a bunch of research and I finally fig out that the overlay maps on historic maps is not exactly match up to Google real time so if I shift it in my head to match I can find places now lol

Congratz, on your 1st coin & it being an IH tells me you are choosing your sites wisely. Nice work I dug my 1st Indian Head cent in 10 years last month [ an 1892] but I got a little too happy and over cleaned it, the over nite soak in olive oil had it looking good enough [like yours] but then I did the Baking soda rub 1 too many times witch brought out a few copper/bronze [shiny specks] that ruined it's look for me , so it's now buried in the back yard undergoing a short 1yr or so natural re-toning process . Always clean wisely my friend.

I found online a way to clean it...lemon juice for 15 mins..then add baking soda for another 15 mins then I scrubbed it twice with toothbrush and washed it and thats how it came out not cleaning it anymore looks good to me...it was rly bad I couldn't see a thing on it when I found it was rly smooth thought it was junk at first lol.
