Pulled together a quick hunt with Jer, Louis had to work again... Decided to check out some dots that corresponded with old maps and LIDAR imagery.
First site was a bust, only a few wheats. Second site was more promising, found the old cellar depression, but must have been pounded as we only found a few IHPs and buttons (Jer dug a big dandy there so we can only wonder what was there for the first detectorists)
Third site was a dot I had tried to find a year ago on a couple occasions, had only found the barn foundation
and the spring house. Usually at an old PA farm all of the structures are within a hundred yards of each other, this farm was really spread out, from the barn to the spring house was at least 1/2 mile of heavy woods. Jer spotted a single lone pine in the distance and we worked our way to it. Tons of shotgun shell head stamps that rang up as 20’s on our Nox’s, crazy. then Jer yells silver quarter, then another silver quarter, the pine was still 75 yards ahead. 10’ from the base of the pine was the elusive homesite cellar.
Jer killed it again with his 15” coil on his Nox. Beautiful 2 Center, silvers, LC, IHPs and relics. Here is my take (with a few items from a local hunt the previous day).
Good luck out there and Happy New Year!
