Finally found a Seated!! and it's kinda' Big LOL!!!!
Well, Monday is my Birthday so i went out Yesterday to a place with some decent history to it and thought "if I am ever going to find a seated coin it's here" the ground looked perfect super black, and not a whole lot of trash. there was quite a bit of that old deep iron that likes to sound good to my Minelab, but after getting used to what it sounded like I started to find a few coins here and there. I found a 1917 wheat penny first, then for the next 45 minutes nothing, when over to a promising looking area by some really old cedar? trees and got a decent signal at about 6 inches or so. dug a nice big plug, fliiped it and then cleaned the loose dirt from the bottom of the hole, checked it with my pinpointer and silence! I thought for a second it was a false alarm, ran my pinpointer over the pile and it screamed loud!! looked at the pile and saw one clod with a silver edge peeking out I thought, "worn washington, weel at least my silver drought is over" I give the clod a little squeeze to break some dirt from it and the back was partially revealed, I could barely make it out and it looks like a worn barber from what I could see. I tried to pop some dirt from the front and that's when I could start to see the outline of the seated liberty!! I just about SHI% myself!!! It was an 1878 Seated Liberty quarter!!!! this coin holds several titles for me personally. #1 it is the oldest coin I have found so far, #2 it is the oldest silver coin I have ever found, and #3 it is my first seated coin. I also found a cool token and two indian head pennies ( 1907 and 1893) both are cleaning up super nice! well, I just had to post this I will definitely be hitting that place many more times.
