I've been holding these things for a decade. Took a look on ebay. They sell for about $1 each in good shape. If I sell one for $1, add $.75 for shipping, that is $1.75 to the buyer. Ebay takes 13% plus 30 cents, or $.53 for this sale. Leaves me $1.22. SInce it costs me the $.75 for a stamp (even though it is in their cost) and then costs me $.50 for the coin . I end with a LOSS of about 3 cents. If I sell for $1.25 plus shipping, then I make a whopping $0.22 gain. While that is almost 50% based on the 50 cent investment, it is also not worth my time. heck, neither is selling 2009 nickels and dimes, or 2024 nickels, but I am doing that for the fun of it (And the 33 cents per nickel profit on average. woohoo. lolol). But not the halves.
So I am dumping. This week, about 400 NIFC halves will be dumped in the Phoenix market. dropped at Midfirst, who sends them off to Loomis and they end up back in someone else's box. I wish you the best with them. They are no longer taking up space in my coin boxes. :-)
Here's to 2025 and all our CRH we do. Maybe even find a box of 2024 nickels or dimes. That would be nice. :-D.
