"FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Left work today and went out to search an old homesite next to a friends house. Only had about two hours to work the site. In twenty years of detecting, that SLQ has always evaded me. Today my friends, that madness stopped. I finally dug my first SLQ with a 1918 date. I also dug a few other silvers and some indians. Here is what I pulled today. ;D

1918 Standing Quarter
1918 Merc Dime
1908 Barber Dime
1896 IH
1903 IH
1910 V-Nickel

KNOW THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GREAT HUNT, WISH THEY ALL WERE LIKE THAT

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Wow, the condition of that SLQ is amazing. Congratulations on finding your first!

The barber dime looks like it might clean up nice too. I would have undoubtedly scratched that SLQ, that's my luck. :tongue3:

That is a beautiful SLQ. You are a lucky man.

I have been sacrificing goats and swinging a detector for 17 years, and have yet to find a good SLQ with a date. My girlfriend is threatening to leave me if I do not find one soon.

How many goats did you have to sacrifice?

I have yet to find a dated SLQ as well...but I've heard that if you sacrifice baby goats, your Goat Karma will get boosted up more quickly.

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Nice SLQ- The best Slq is the 1918 8 over 7-s Better check that mint mark and look really close for the top bar of the 7 through the top of the 8. I found one back in the early 80,s. Nice bunch of coins.

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Maybe a 1917 over 1918? can you do a close up? Purty, real purty.

Re: "FINALLY" A Standing Liberty Quarter

Here is a close-up of the coin. Didn't see any 7 under the 8 do you ? I did knick the rim a bit while digging, still figuring out the pinpointing on this new detector.

Nice work! I've only been detecting for about a year now but the SLQ is one of the coins I would most love to find. Gotta say, I 'm a little jealous!
