We spent the first hour on a cover crop (for sheep), it was a little too high & there were very little signs about. I had a hunch that the next field that we had tried previous years (with no success) was worth another go. I picked a spot near to the Villiage edge & started gridding, on my 3rd run up popped the lovely Groat.
We gridded that area for 3 hours covering about 1.5 acres with the following result:
(days total = 4 hours)
Dad had a nice Medieval Buckle plate with Dragon biting its tail (hard to picture, as its bent)

Dug it at 11" in choppy stick clay, glad to see a good deep find instead of junk, as it was pretty tiring.
