FIll up now????

The blood suckers are jumping the gun because 14 refineries in Texas and 4 refineries in Louisiana had to shutdown due to Ike. Remember who jumped "firstest" and "highest", and never shop there again. :-\

;D ;D ;D :icon_study: The Forum Spell Checker just passed the word "firstest". :icon_scratch: :dontknow:

The Attorney General has issued a request for folks in Arkansas to send him photos of any station suspected of goughing, and a receipt went with my pics today.

They were hoping for outrageous damage from Ike, and they just got a whimper. The local station out of Monroe, LA sounded disappointed that prices didn't reach $5+ per gallon.

They can pay that much if they want to, I won't stop 'em . . . but I ain't gonna.

$4.57 here... and $80 to fill my truck tonight! Glad we can't drive far... we end up back where we started...

shaka Mikey

The average price here is 1.379 a 'liter' thats $5.22 a U.S. gallon
At midnight, they raised the price from $1.23 a liter.. It's amazing The U.S. is a BIG importer of Canadian gasoline, where it sells for 30% less than it does here.. Consider yourself lucky :angry4:

Please do not take this as a "personal criticism." There are some lines that are repeated so much that they are said more out of reflex than out of thought. It really means nothing but . . . that last statement really pisses me off when I hear it!!!

"Consider yourself lucky."

So, everyone, consider yourself lucky because the people in Germany are so spineless that they will bend over and touch their toes for the oil companies. What else can you say about person who are willing to pay $10+ for a gallon of gas.

Consider yourself lucky because the people in Canada pay $5+ for a gallon of gas?

Nope. Won't do it. I pay, but I complain every single time. They know they are goughing you. The workers do not set the price, but I guarantee you that if enough people complain loudly enough, it eventually gets back to the folks at the top.

Yes, it puts stresses on the workers, but $4.89 puts a hell of a lot of stress on my budget!

I don't give a flying #### about how much people in Europe are willing to pay for petro. I don't care how much the folks in China and India are paying. I'll feel lucky when I see fuel at a fair price, until then, it hurts when I try to sit down.

Oil is now Going up again.
So by the time the Gas Companies
stop Squeezing us, Oil will be at record Highs again
and we'll never see the Break we should be getting now.

Oil is $102.73 gas should be $2.97 right now

Lines still long at stations, but gas supply rebounding

For some customers, the current strain expected to last through September is much more than an inconvenience.

They are hitting us hard everywhere you look. Groceries have skyrocketed, utility rates are going up. It looks like my kids are getting electricity and heat for Christmas this year. :-\

Yea I canceled Christmas Last year & this year is Worse.

jsu... WoW! Electricity AND heat? Wow! Those are lucky kids!

And Jeff, I never got around to cancelling it... it was just the cold time of year.
My kids don't even call me the Grinch.
They never learned that story.

I got a really mean look when I tried to put shiny rocks in the Christmas stockings by the heater.

Ha Ha! I remember last winter clearly.
Got a job. It was wonderful!
Remodel/renovate exterior and interior of a distressed home, for resale.
Ran out of propane in the tank and owner wouldn't get us more...
It was cold. Paint just ran down the walls! Then it wouldn't dry!
Ended up leaving electric heaters on 24/7 and only working afternoons... HA!
It was crazy. But we made it through winter!
Owner rented it out on completion. Couldn't sell it.

The grocery prices are horrible. I work in pricing at my store and everyday I hang tags. DO NOT believe those tags that you are saving...you are NOT!!

Yesterday, I hung over 300 tags and with the exception of maybe 50 or so, which were repeat tags....all the prices went up anywhere from 10 cents to 1.00 an item!

And I get a kick out of folks shopping. We had those Chef Boyardee's ON SALE for 88 cents a can...hardly anyone bought them. The following week, our sales ad listed them for 10 for $10...they sold like hotcakes!!! I just don't get it!! LOL. They just spent 12 cents more per can ... $1.20 more instead of buying them at 88 cents a can for a total of $8.80. But they think 10 for $10 is a good deal...it is, depending on the item. Folks need to really pay attention to the prices.

Also, each tag that hangs in the store tells you what the actual price of the product is!!! You just have to know how to read it. At our store, you would not know, as it looks like a code. It would read 00295...which is $2.95. But I also noticed recently, let's say an item is $2.95, then a week later they put it on sale for $1.50 or 2 for $3.00 (depending how they print the tag), the actual price will read $2.95 in the code. But when the sale goes off, the product goes up to $3.05 and that is what the actual price code will read too!!

Oh, forgot to mention...found out yesterday...that ALL grocery stores are going to this new tag system our store is currently using. Now, I don't know if that is all the stores in our company or all the stores nationwide....so if everyone is going to this new tag system, the actual price is listed on the tag at the bottom right (if the tag is yellow and short)...it the tag is red and long....to top portion is still the same as the yellow tag.

Also, we have a new tag system coming out regarding seafood, meats, produce, etc. The product, if fresh (not processed) will state where this product came from. It will make it easier now, if another outbreak occurs, to determine where the product was purchased from. This is nationwide and starts 1 October. If the food is cooked or processed, it will NOT have the origin on it.

Groceries have gone up so much in just the last 2 months, it's not funny anymore!

And our store is NO LONGER locally owned. Another large company owns it and controls what we sell and don't sell and sets the price, etc.

And this other company owns several grocery chains.

The electric bill was pretty good this past Summer regarding A/C...I hope to keep our gas bill down this Winter for heating. It will be cold as heck downstairs (wear a sweater and socks), but atleast toasty when you go to bed upstairs!!! I keep the thermostat at 72 during the Winter and Summer...sometimes I lower it or raise it a degree a two, when the temps drop or rise horribly outside! But I am averaging around $250 each month or lower. However, I turned off my A/C this week, weather is getting cooler outside, and won't need to turn on the heat until hopefully November. It will run until about Feb/March, depending on the outside temps. So, I have a few months a year when the bill is nothing. This past gas bill was $23 bucks...and it will remain low like that until Nov/Dec time frame....whereas, my electric bill will drop to less than $100 a month when using the gas. So, it kinda' balances out, as long as you control the box that controls the heat and A/C. ;D

I will be using the fireplace a bit more this year if the downstairs gets a horrible chill. We had to cut a tree down (it was dead and leaning towards the house) last year and that is what we will use in the fireplace this Winter and hopefully have enough left over for the following Winter!

I am still filling up my car once a month....well, I did push it 5 weeks this last fill up!!! But that was really calling it close!!! LOL ...and yes, I use my car everyday...to work, to drive the kids to school, to do errands.

As for groceries...USE COUPONS!!! You will save money. Make a list of all the coupons you used and write down what you saved. Put that money in a jar and at the end of the year, see how much you saved. I did that one year, and by November, I had over $700 in my coupon jar, NO BS!!!! I used alot of coupons that year!!! I don't use them as much anymore, as many of the products I use to buy, I don't buy anymore and we use BJ's for our bulk shopping. The jar includes coupons that if you buy one item, you get one free...make sure you add the money for what you would have paid for the item that was free. I need to start that again, come January...it was hard to get it started and remember to put the money in the jar, but after a few shopping trips...you will get the hang of it. Just use your regular grocery store...don't travel further to save 20 cents...you waste more in gas! And I do not buy generic....I am a brand person when it comes to food, like BUSH's BEANS, CAMPBELLS, LAYS, WISE, etc. I have tried some generic foods, yuk! When it comes to paper products, I buy the cheapest paper towels, paper plates, and napkins, etc, but TP...that is SCOTT!!! LOL

Well, that's it for now....wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Just a tidbit:

Because of "panic buying" of gas, Middle Tennessee (especially Nashville) is just about out of gas. As of this morning, Saturday, September 20, 85 % of the gas stations in Nashville are completely out of gas. Those that do have gas have lines blocks long with very short tempers.

All those that have looked into the shortage blame the "rumor mill".

Here's a little update on the gas crisis here in the southeast. If you can find gas, you have to wait in line and they only have premium grade. They had a big game this weekend and just about every station in Athens was out of gas. I had to give 4.35 a gallon! Luckily I have a backup vehicle a 93 ford festiva that gets 40 something mpg that I am driving alot more lately. Its not pretty but it is nice to drive past the pumps. My 2 SUV's are parked and probably won't move for awhile. I talked to my friend in Missouri and he told me that gas was 3.29 a gallon there. That is quite a difference bettween Missouri and Georgia (about 850 miles). The attorney general has issued 130 subpoena's for area gas stations for gouging. I hope they fine the hell out of these people.

I feel so bad for everyone where there are shortages and gouging going on, alot of people around here dont understand why are gas is usually the highest and the refinery is right here! But if you've lived here you know it always is.

We at this point are very lucky and that sounds strange lucky at the price last night it was $3.22 and if you get gas a Wal-mart 3 cents less, and we also are very lucky in ther have been no shortages.

Praying for releif for everyone soon!

At least the talk of canceling that ballgame was in jest!

Gas prices are gonna put a big crimp in a lot of the fun stuff.

Winter is gonna be harsh and cruel.

Sry to hear about those parked suv's JSU, I'd imagine they are nice vehicles that serve your family needs well and are even in excellent mechanical condition...

Here a while back I just let a couple of my big work trucks go... wasn't using them, couldn't afford to fuel them without reason and left 'em sit 'til they were towed off.

One of the 1 tons had a 460 in it... the other was a flatbed dually. People would come by periodically with an insult for an offer, but I just let 'em sit figuring I could do a bit of work and fire 'em up if I needed 'em.
Never happened! Ended up working out of a Ranger.

Nice big trucks are cropping up on our main street with signs each day.
Last night it was a lifted 02 Excursion LTD. Nice!

So THAT'S WHERE THE PREMIUM WENT!!! Here in Southeast Arkansas, Unleaded Regular ONLY. $3.699/gallon

Lovely state, Arkansas . . . if you run a gas station. Gov declared state of emergency. It is illegal to price gough during a declared state of emergency. Gov set up an email address to report gouging . . . and apparently never answered any of the emails as the newspaper (the "Democrat Gazette") has not said anything else such as "subpoenas issued" etc. Personally sent photos of the station taken the day before and the day following the hurricane, as well as credit card receipts . . . no answer yet.
