Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

Hey guys, weather has been pretty nice hear for the middle of January. Only has snowed once. It has been between the 40's and 60's throughout the last couple of weeks. I have been viewing everyones finds, and decided it was probably time I posted againg since it has been awhile. Anyways, I found the silver" Little Sombrero dude" at the school playground where I have found a merc dime and four rings before that I have posted. The 10k gold band was found at a new school I have never been to before along with the thick junk plated ring in the other pic. Does anyone know what the lettering in the band means that I have also posted?????? ??? I have also found quite a bit of clad. The 1918 wheatie was found in a park I decided to try out along with the other 2 junk rings in the pic. I gues someone must have lost their best friend, as I found half of their medal lol ;D. I have 2 new Montana history books that include some old maps that I am doing some research on some old mining towns that I would like to detect and visit. It looks pretty promising. Anyways, I hope that everyone is having a good new year, and happy hunting in your future ventures!

Best Wishes,

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

I hear the weather has been nice out in Billings. Gound still digable?

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

Hey Pete, yeah the ground is still digable. It is kinda frozen in some of the shady areas, but it is still digable even in those areas, although it is more of a challenge lol. How about the ground there?? Do you guys still have snow on the ground?? Is the ground frozen there??

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

No snow here, ground is diggible for a couple of hours a day lately. But i watch foot ball this weekend.

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

Love to find rings. You did good!!!! HH Burdie

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

Congrats on your rings, the P might be plated. A pawn shop or jeweler will be able to tell you, HH Art...

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

I would say that the p on the ring is plated 10k. Take a jewelers loop or a good magnifying glass and look around the edges where it is scratched to see if you see any silver shinning through.

Howdy neighbor! LOL ok well maybe not neighbors exactly, but Sheridan, WY is not THAT far away. Good stuff and let me know if you get bored with those ghost towns! We are looking into a couple of places around here as well.

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

Hey LandT, I actually make it to Sheridian once in awhile for my job. So I guess I should say howdy back. I would be interested in coming down sometime if you guys find some good old sites. It is only about an hour and a half from here.

Happy Hunting,

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

Here is a list that will help you out in all your findings of jewelry.

http://gsthmn.tripod.com/jewelry_markings.htm

It will tell you that there is a difference between 10kp. and 10kp and let you know one of them is NOT just plated but real! Sorry didn't know how else? to word that.

Good luck!? ;D Gigi

Bet the dumps are full of jewelry people misread! Gone forever, its all so deep down with rot now!? :'(

Nice stuff. It's just good to get out this time of year. Been mild here in p.a also.

Re: Few outings since New Year Renders Silver & Gold

Thanks for the info gigisdiamonds. I did not think that the kp meant karat plated. The ring was about 3 inches deep, and every ring that I have found at that depth has had some of the plating corrode off. I guess it means it is 10 karat plumb which means it is exactly 10k worth of gold. Thanks for the info very good stuff!!!!! ;D
