I think this might be lens piece for a telescope to view the sun. It has a dark green tint on the lens. It's a bit crusty but I can make out the word MOON on the top.

Hey Ninja. I don't know about the lens/button items, but when I was a kid, we had these rubber boots that had clips/catch's like that picture on the bottom.
You would lift the lever thingy and push it forward to clasp onto the other piece, (it was like a bar), then push it down to close it.

I agree with Baglady on the snap. Back in the 50's, I remember having something like that on either my rubber boots or rain coat.

uh try older --not for rubber boots but for a ladies stockings --garter clip for stockings ...the rivets were used to attach it to a leather strap with holes in it that in turn attached to a waist belt ( that way the length of the strap could be adjusted) ---the u shaped hook was at the bottom end and a hole in the stocking slipped over it --thus holding up the stockings ..the whole rig was worn under a womans dress...

Thanks Everyone for the help!!

This site is producing so much random objects every time i clear off a new section. On my last hunt, I had to put away my Metal Detector because I inadvertently found the privy which had lots of bottles. I was digging most of the day.

Maybe, but the finger on that appears to have a lever,( or rotation ) action. This was the case on our boots, for it to work on a women's garter, it should be stationary as you would not want the lever action to come undone as it would allow the possibility of the garter or stocking to just "slide" off and then fall down.

Now that Simon1 mentioned it, I do remember them on our raincoats too. Brings back memories.
