A local farmer as been busy digging fence post holes. I spent a while searching the spoil heaps around these. A faint signal produced this tiny hammered silver coin. It's a hammered silver farthing of Edward 1, 1272-1307 AD. I took the photo on the tip of my little finger, to show the smallness of the coin.

Hello yes had loads of cut quarters, lost count to be honest. Had some very rare Saxon and Norman ones also. Got one coming up for auction next week (Time-Line auctions). A very rare Aethelred 11, 978-1016. first small cross type. Have a look at the auction web site under coins.

Rob, I might be wrong, but I think he meant a Qrter cut Farthing??(ie. your coin pictured cut into Qrters,not a Penny that becomes a farthing when cut) If so, I don't think that happened??

Ah, now that would be a find Cru. Would need a microscope :laughing7:
