Another dry sand hunt this morning. Picked up a couple of rings neither are silver. A nice Kershaw folding knife and this gold locket and chain.

The locket does have a couple of pictures inside. One is of a couple that looks like they're right out of the 50's and the other of a kid.

I love finding stuff but a piece like this you just want to give it back!!!

The locket does test positive for 10k and 14k but isn't stamped...

Neat locket! I like that red stone ring as well. You had a good day.

Cool and functional knife. The locket would be one of those bittersweet finds. I imagine next to impossible to locate the owners if they'd even be alive. Good stuff here.:icon_thumleft:

I would have been thrilled with the knife, aw heck the rings too but the locket and chain took it over the top. the pics really add to personal loss of it, who knows, you may find them. Every thing like jewelry or watches etc cause me to reflect about the previous owners and their loss. The cool thing is it is back in someone's hands again...yours. congrats

great find you have a big heart...!!!!Good post

I thought you meant because the beers had been opened

It's just amazing how much drinkin' goes on at my local beaches. Bottle caps everywhere...rough when you're working a PI machine...

Congrats on a good hunt. I would be super stoked with those finds.

Congratulations on the beach finds. If you are serious about returning the locket you may want to check recent obituaries. It may have been lost by a descendant while scattering ashes. Your sentiments on the find definitely speak to your good character.

Congrats on your finds. Finding a personal item like that can make you think about its former owner. I was once detecting in a park and I found a tag (like a military I.D. dog tag) that said " I love you daddy" "Love Alyssa 1985" It sure made me wish I knew who Alyssa was so I could return it to her.

I wonder if you could get the local news to do a story if that would turn up a lead to the family.

Excellent hunt,, a little bittersweet but still a couple of hours well spent. If the person who lost the locket is still alive, he / she would probably be in their 90's.
Congrats on a good hunt.
