Federal troop outpost discovered
1-25-10 Hi T-Net I had some time to search some old ground that was a stage stop from 1780 - 1880's . Destroyed by fire in the late 1800's..I have searched this place numerous times, but never the field 300 yards from the structure ruins. A local historian informed me of Federal troops camping at this field shortly before the Civil War. Temp. outpost for some a time till 1861

Private property ,posted ,lucky for me I knew the owners and received permission . After a 6-7 hour search I found the following relics and 3 coins . Found ; A star button with a glass stone , musket ball, 4 rivets ,poncho grommet, some flat buttons ,one cuff military button, alot of scrap. Coins found ; 1860 Indian Head ,1849 large cent ,and a 1858 LL Flying Eagle penny. sorry about the dirt . Finds from stagestop 1-21-10 My first finds for 2010. Found: 5 buttons , a pewter spoon handle , and a 1797 Draped Bust cent Pics 3 & 4 1-27-10 Played hooky from work for a hour , trying to locate a firepit and stumbled across these above ground finds . See last picture , gun flint and musket ball ,dug by dirtbikers . Chards and clay pipe found at site today. Thanks for taking a look CMD

HH in 2010 
. It might be cool to make alittle display of some of the finds to give for token of appreciation. It could possibly open alot of possibilities. 
I have a good feeling about this place . I plan to get back there this weekend, need some luck for some decent Cavalry relics . 
Need some info on firepits and tent grommets. Thanks again
