Me too. If I've read correctly the Kansas Pacific hooked up with the Colorado Central in 1870, then in 1890 the Colorado Central was renamed as the result of being purchased, so that would I think give the time range of your tag... but a second set of eyes on the facts and such is never a bad idea.

Taking another look, again if I've read correctly, the Kansas Pacific became part of Union Pacific (and taking that name) in 1880. If so, that would narrow the range to 1870-80, which is good I would think, as it would be less common.

I'd suggest you find out the value of your tag first! Some can be pretty valuable, but I don't offhand know any specifics about which.
