Farm implement of some sort.

Easily the largest item I have found metal detecting on my farm, this item might be a hay baler?

I was amazed to find it, because I have practically stood on top of it for ten years without realizing it.

Anyway, pretty cool. I don’t think it will fit in my cabinet , though.

In the modern world, they call them ratchet rakes. In yesterday's world .. when I lived on the farm, we called it the poop buster. It is a type of harrow drag. Ours was very similar.

Not a sickle bar mower. My guess is those teeth were for adjustment. The handle allowed for changing settings/depths/angles. If you look the toothed part is attached yo a pipe which should be freely moving. I’m not sure what it is, but not that old. 75-100 yrs.

What is the concretion on the left side? Looks like a cross between concrete and oyster shells.

Yeah, I didn’t want to argue, but I’m pretty familiar with sickle bar mowers, at least modern ones. I own and operate one for taking in hay.

While the teeth on this relic make you think “cutting implement”, the toothed bar does not reciprocate, it swings out on a hinge.

The toothed arm has a big D shaped handle on the free end.

The white stuff is a bit of concrete.

I’ll google ratchet rake and see what I can find.

A head gate. I see. Yeah, maybe so. I’ve been looking at it laying flat, but upright mounted to a chute, That makes more sense. There were certainly cattle running here. I’ve found cowbells and brass cattle tags.
