My parents want to sell their farm.
140 acres, 40 acres woods, 50 tillable, and 50 acre apple and peach orchard.
I have found over 2000 nice pieces on their land.
1/4 mile from Spoon River, 1/2 mile from the Illinois river with the East Creek running thru.
4000 sq ft brick home, 2000 sq ft orchard store with bakery.
2 barns, a pond and all the equipment to run the orchard.
1.1 million.
Sits on the Larson site in Fulton County Illinois, next to the Dickson Mounds State Museum.
The orchard generates about $60,000 a season.

There are Huge Illinois bucks runnin everywhere. Many big racks taken over the years. They love the orchard. I also scare up turkeys every time I walk into the timber. Had a mountain lion sighting just about 6 weeks ago. There is a wildlife refuge down along the Illinois river. Ducks, geese and fishin. The property is 4 miles from town.

Excuse me while I clean the drool from my chin. Now....where did I put that 1.1 million that was burning a hole in my pocket.

Seriously though, that sounds like an awesome piece of property.

I could have bought it but I took it all to coin-star.(all clad)....Nah realy ..BEST of luck...IMO..it's a great deal!

Hey Jonzer, I believe I've met you before. I've hunted "the other place" before he went to no-till with it. I wish I could generate the jack to buy your parent's place becasue I would in a heart beat.

Hippy

Thanks everybody for the kind words.
I will be heartbroken when it does sell. I've been scouring every inch of that place for 21 years. I have very fond memories of where I found each and every piece of American Indian history. Fortunately, I have many other places to hunt.
My parents have been working their hearts out for a long time and now it is time for them to take it easy.
They wanted me to take over but I have 2 businesses now and the farming would take too much time away.
I plan on writing a book about the orchard.
I know the price tag is high but it really does have to be seen to be appreciated. I know the relic hunters would really love the place. The house is beautiful, the business thriving and the landscape is just amazing.
They had a developer show some interest in building a hotel and resort but I really hope that doesn't happen. It would ruin the historical value of the site.
Thanks again-Darrin
