lol... actually they still sell em at every hardware store.

The bracket itself that is :)

Actually... you can still get those square head nuts and bolts as well... if ya know where to look :)

Have to be pretty old though given the size of the roots it was lodged under, but that's pretty darn funny.

You can call it whatever you like. The tough part is proving it.

Add that one to the scrap bucket and move on.

If you're out today, don't get blown away!

It appears to be an old farm house storm window corner brace/bracket. Our farm house in the midwest had these on all the screen and storm window. But honestly these hardware brackets where used on almost everything from chicken coops to antique wood truck boxes.

I use small ones from Lowes to make battery boxes for my old engines. I make them rust with acid.

Angle bracket today , but one of these times it will be something really nice. keep digging . don't forget to check the hole after removing the iron.
I've found many buttons under iron.

An old chunk of iron like that is good to practice electrolysis on . then when you find something of value you will be able to preserve it .

Good info -- thanks. Found half dozen pieces of iron in the same spot this morning, including several (what appear to be) square head cut nails. I'm tempted to say another piece is a small j-hook, but can't say for sure with all the rust. The spot seems promising.

Yuppee! Definitely got to recheck the holes... I've found silver right next to Iron before.
