Fan's Roman Site - Day 3 - CELTIC GOLD!!!

I love Mondays.:headbang:

Dad & I spent 5.5 hours gridding the limits of the site. As per norm, the Roman Artefacts often end up on the boundries:icon_scratch:
As we we gridding the gap between Fan's Site & the Metal Working area, I finally struck gold. We had a blank year last year for Celtic Gold but now I'm back on the board.
It's a tiny Quarter Stater of Tasciovanus - 20BC-10AD. (1.34g) - Pegasus Reverse.

31 Roman Bronze Coins
Broken Roman Fibula (1st C AD)
A large complete Fibula8-)
A once Silvered bronze hair pin (Roman)
Tudor Clothes Fastener

That's a crackin find, mate. The whole lot!

Too sweet Cru. That site is really paying off for you and your dad.

Crusader - That's a beautiful coin! I vote banner. I hope it gets up on top of the page soon. Now, get back out there and find a gold torc! :headbang:

Congrats on the gold coin. Like i always say any gold coin found with a metal detector deserves BANNER. Has my vote.

That is an "AMAZING" coin find, so tiny also, my banner vote is in
!!!

Some things either wrong with the Banner system, or people are not voting after saying banner....I'm off to vote now...great find.

SS

Cheers everyone for another banner.

I took a picture on my little finger with natural light to try & show it off a little.

You can never count on or guess where they might pop up, but after last year when Land-Mag got his first Celtic Silver from the nearby Metal Working Area, I held out some hope that there maybe a gold. If you find a silver normally the site should hold 'a' gold. That's one of the reasons we were all over this new neighbouring site. (I was digging like a demented badger)What is strange is we have had over 100 bronze Roman Coins & no silver. So when I shouted 'I've done it', Dad expected the long awaited Roman Silver, but clearly this was a much better result.

*Jawdropper* Yet again you show why you are the most "bannered" man on T-net. Truly remarkable yet again. Beautiful!

What amazes me is the detail on such a small coin. Some pretty skillful people for the limitations of the day.

Since its only one its not labeled treasure, right? Although you can look for that clay pot......

Congrats on yet another great find.

Congratulations to you and your Dad on finding gold yet again Cru! :occasion14:
You fellows certainly put in the time and research to detect the right sites.

Cheers on BANNER # 19 mate!
Dave

Oh man that's sweet! Congratulations on such a well deserved banner, but more importantly, on an incredible piece of history! And we think some of the (1600-1700's) coins we find here are old...can't wrap my mind around it! Incredible!!

Definitely banner worthy! Congrats on your most recent gold coin ;-)

That is an awesome find! Congrats! It is so tiny!

Hello, banner! nothing else to say!

Wow this one was put up faster than I could vote! WTG Cru! awesome stuff buddy!

Congrats on yet another great find.

The British Celtic Metal Workers were known as some of the best in 'Europe', they not only made great items but these coins were often accurate to 0.05 of a gram, no idea how they did it. But they must of been using grain to get the right weight.:dontknow:

It is hard to top two-thousand year old Celtic gold! Congrats Cru on finding another incredible piece of history. As small as that coin is, and with the low conductivity of the gold, did it give you a faint signal? And now that the field has yielded gold, will you grid it again to see if you missed anything?
